Would I be able to train as a science teacher with a BSc in Radiography?

I am thinking about studying for a degree in Diagnostic Radiography and know that the course has a lot of science in it. I also have A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

I was just wondering, after I completed my degree, would I be able to do a PGCE in secondary science?

Thanks

  1. The PGDE courses are really competitive...depends which are you are going into.  In the UK, you need a degree in either Physics, Chemistry or Biology (usually) to teach at high school level.  This is due to the fact that you will be expected to teach subject in its entirety.

Im not sure how you would get on but there is nor harm in trying!  If you have a good degree result then you would have a decent chance im sure :)

    Good Luck!

  2. I think you would but you would probably get paid more as a Radiographer...although you wouldn't have the long holidays.

  3. You would be better off doing a science degree, rather than a vocational thing.

  4. You would be able to do a 1 year PGCE.

  5. YES and YES again!  Frankly they have great difficulty in getting well qualified people on to PGCE science courses.
