  1. Yep why not, Have minimal commitments and you should be OK. Apparantly,  and you will have to check the numbers but Brisbane has the highest ratio of women to men than any capital city so looking at the numbers you should do alright. Unless you can add a zero to your salary dont bother with the Gold Coast.

Most will depend on what you are used too, also.

Go on live life its a great place.

  2. 42k isn't much if you're running a car, but rent's your biggest problem. You'll live more comfortably if you can share rent with someone.

  3. It depends, stuff is pretty expensive down here

  4. I know quite a few singles on less than $42,000 a year and they get by OK.

I also know of many families with kids that get by OK on $50,000 or less.

It all really hinges on your accommodation cost, and other expectations.

  5. You say you plan to increase your income... may I ask what you do? I'm sure you will be able to live on that income quite well if you know how to budget, don't want the moon and the stars and work to better your lifestyle. There is so much to do in Brisbane, especially if you like sunshine and the outdoor life. Look for Day Rover travel tickets which for a few dollars will let you travel off peak on ferries and buses, as well as City Cats... fast catamarans... travelling on the river is a great way to see the city and you can get on and off where you like. We all want different lifestyles, but looking around for bargains and asking the locals will see you have a great life here.

  6. Yes - my brother is on just under that and has a reasonable flat (renting for $250 per week) and seems to survive ok.  It is not a huge amount of money to live off but yes, you can still be comfortable.

  7. I don't know about 'comfortable' but you'll be OK if you don't live the high life too much and can find a place to live with a reasonable rent.
