Would I be entitled to apply for British Citizenship?

I was wondering if I would be entitled to apply for british citizenship,

here are some details :

My mother holds a british passport, parents are divorced.

Grandmother is pure english, mum is half.

I do not hold a british passport,

I know i have british patriality, and possibly the right of abode, but can i get citizenship if i apply?

  1. depends on your mothers citizenship. Is she a citizen by descent or otherwise? If your mom was born in another country and did not live in the UK she would be a citizen by descent and could not pass the british citizenship to you. If on the other hand she was born in the UK then she could pass it on. It gets a bit more complex but that is the basic idea.


  2. If your mother is a british citzen then it shouldn't be a problem as long as you were born before 1983.  I don't think that matters anyway I think you can claim citizenship from either parent.
