Would I be violating copyright laws?

I'm making nascar soap on a rope for my family for Christmas(thanks for the idea Tbone)

I've made the mold for the cars, but I was wondering if by putting the sponsors on them if I would be infringing on any copyright laws, and if I am, should I just go for it anyway?

  1. I wouldnt think so as long as you dont sell them. I should know, I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express  last night! I will take a #2 Miller Lite soap on a rope!

  2. As long as you don't sell it, I don't think they can do anything. Your not making money off of them so I don't think they can do anything. Think of it as recording something like a CD for a friend. You take......say a  Bon Jovi Cd, record it for a friend, and give it to them, they can't do squat. Now if you record them and sell them, that is copy writing.

  3. i agree with the answers above - if you're not mass producing them and selling them, no big deal.  also, as long as you don't put "nascar approved" on them, i don't see why anyone should care about copyright issues.

plus, if any sponsor, driver, or nascar itself does try to sue, just take and throw the rest of your inventory into a microwave or a hot tub ;-)

  4. Technically yes, and as I'ce learned from the rich and famous don't mess with them they alwys get what they want while we pick up after them.

  5. HMM  as long as you didn't like try to sell it like to all the Kyle Busch Fans or Jr Nation i don't see why it should matter but just be careful

lol i i mean just don't go trying to sell it to the General Public Cause some ones some where is going to get jealous and rat you got which is true cause the drivers and teams aren't making money off of it

  6. no.

If you were making these items and selling them at the flea market or e-bay or something, then you'd have to pay royalties.  If you do not intend to make any money off these items, then you are not breaking any laws.  Copyright laws are intended for people to not make money off of other people's ideas.

  7. Who is going to turn you in?  If you are just making them for family and are not going to be selling them you will be fine.  If you send me a 48 car soap on a rope I will not turn you in! LOL  GO FOR IT!

  8. As long as you don't sell the soap, mass produce them, pattern them, or ©  them yourself by claiming they are your own design, you will be fine. Same goes with the mold itself.

On a lighter note, I think your family will really like them.

  9. As long as you don't sell it.

  10. no unless you sell it

    have fun
