  1. You'd be using less energy if you bought a fan. there's a really big energy difference between fan and AC and fan is way better. If you're getting a floor fan I read this trick. Turn the fan out  near a window instead of towards you. i don't know if this works but it's worth a try!

  2. fans are by far the energy saving choice!

  3. who cares  im chilled nice with my air con

  4. you'd be useing less energy but you wont reach as low of temp. fans just circulate the air. air conditioning cools the air and removes moisture from the air to make it less humid.

  5. yes very much so

  6. No. fans are by far the more eco-friendly choice provided you are conscientious about turning it off. go for it.

  7. We had no A/C in NJ and had ceiling fans in every room.  They kept us very comfortable.

We are now in Az. and one of the first alterations to the house was the installation of ceiling fans throughout.  We have low E double glazed windows with blinds and keep the blinds closed on the sides where the sun is at it's most intensive during the day.  We also built Pergolas both on the front (East-South East ) and West-North West) sides of the house to further shade and prevent the intensity of the sun from entering the house.  At night we open windows throughout and turn off the A/C, in the morning we close the windows and turn on the A/C which is set at 84 degrees. We also do not burn unnecessary lights as they also generate heat in the house.

We have found that these measures do conserve energy, thereby, cutting our elec. bill.

  8. You would be saving energy but as someone before said, it just circulates the air. Try putting a wet towel or pillow case in front of it. It helps get the room cooler. :-)

  9. I use fans in addition to my central air.  It helps circulate the air. Besides, I get a kick out of watching my electric meter spin around almost as fast as the gas pumps at the gas station.

  10. If u r living in Gods own country.

  11. fans are a great way to go. ceiling fans tend to be more efficiant than floor fans by the way.

  12. Look at the watt label on any appliance.  The lower the watts the less energy you use.  It may or may not use less energy in an fan/AC combination compared to a AC/AC combination.  If the one AC is running 100% of the time to cool the home compared to the 2 running less than 50% of the time the 2 would use less energy.  It depends on how well the units are sized to the job.  You may be able to find a local AC business that will take your unit sizes and your sq ft to determine the most efficient mix.

  13. Still the same. You're wasting the electricity energy. You'd better change your home decoration for more help. :)

  14. Try a large evaporator fan with a cool setting.  You'll be more likely to use it more than the AC.
