Would I get in trouble if I get out from Navy DEP?

I have told my recruiter that I have to quit for family reason and also mail seperation request letter to commander. He said he's gonna come to my house or I have to go to the office and return the Navy belongings and write a statement. He'll explain me the discharge process. I would barely trust whatever he said now so is that true that they can request seperation from the recruiting office?

  1. Don't worry, as long as you have not sworn in then you are good to go. The navy, like the air force, is actually trying to downsize so its not like they're going to be heartbroken.

  2. I think that u are free to go unless u took the oat.May I ask why u decided to back up???? the reason I ask is becuase I want to join also!

  3. What reason is so important that you cant honor your contract?

Do you have a valid reason or have you just wasted the recruiters time?

Maybe you are too immature to have a career yet.

  4. No you won't get into trouble. You're free to go til you raise your hand and take the oath right before being shipped off for boot camp. You're recruiter is trying to scare you bc he gets credit for recuiting you and has a quota to fill.

  5. No you won't.  Be honest.  They have plenty of other recruits who will want your slot.

  6. No you wont get in trouble and the only thing your recruiter has to do is request you get tooken out of dep and thats that. you shouldn't have to write a statement or anything. because if you don't go when your ship date is they will have to make up 2 more people to cover your spot when they could just let you go ASAP and they would only have to make up 1. So you really wouldn't even have to say another word to them if you wanted to.

  7. No you won't be in trouble. Yes at the most you may have to make a trip to MEPS, but I highly doubt it.

  8. don't worry, you can tell the recruiter to eat ****. He can do nothing to you as long as you didn't take the oath, just take your father to the recruiter office and return whatever stuff you have, and walk out, he wants to talk to you to keep you in.

  9. As long as you did NOT swear in and take the oath then you are free to back out. What kind of Navy belongings did he give you? Receiving t-shirts and foam footballs, jackets, keychains and all that marketing jazz doesn't obligate you. But if you don't want in and they want it back, give it to them, why do you need it, right?  Bottom line- no oath, no obligation.

  10. You are not in the Navy. You have signed a contract that says you and the Navy agree on job training, length of enlistment, and possible first duty station. You can back out at anytime. Just be up front with your recruiter. He may be upset, but there's nothing he can do about it.

  11. not at all
