Would I have any chance at making a football team?

I am 5'7-5'8 and in my freshman year starting in about a week. I weight about 140 pounds but mostly it's muscle and I'm actually kind of a broad shouldered guy.

But whenever I talk about it people say I can't do it since I can't run for very long, this is a half truth, my foot has always been a source of trouble for an unknown reason and nothing helps it. I could be in better condition since it has been a slow and boring summer but it wouldn't take long for me to be back in shape.

Also I have never played football in my life on a team since my old school never offered it and my family was always too poor to afford gear and stuff like that. But I am strong and smart in most sports I play with the exception of baseball. Basketball has always been my strength but I think I'm well built for football but the conditioning my team goes through sounds like it will be very difficult. My only flaws are inexperience, and the play book might be difficult to remember and I'll definitely need a book to look over before games.

What position should I play? I have decent hands and am hard to take down when someone tries to tackle me. Plus I am a semi good sprinter along with anitcipation skills and jumping ability.

  1. hey bro yea i think u can make the football team. but u just need to get stronger, keep yourself healthly, and get ready now, to at least make the team. You need to do lots of workouts now. But If you have hands and you can break tackles with your speed, i suggest WR. With your decent hands it can support your jumping ability and your speed.

    Good luck

  2. need more info

  3. The only thing you need to play football is one thing

    and one thing only HEART!!!!

  4. Depends how bad you want it dude. It will take a lot of hard work since you don't know coverages, terms (like do you know what 36 means on an offensive play call?), and conditioning is obviously a problem.

You will have to run hard, never complain about your foot (not even once, just suck it up), be fearless, and show some sign that you can do it.

If you're doing it because you want a jersey for girls you'll never make it. You have to want it.

  5. I say yes, you do have a chance, but to tell you the truth anybody can do it, no matter what size, you just gotta have dedication, and determination
