Question:

Would I have failed my English exam?

I did a higher paper and the question was something similar to 'write about a celebrity you admire'

The person I chose to write about is not even real! I chose Rocky Balboa!

I put things such as 'the reason I admire him is because he continued doing what he loved even though he knew he would have to overcome many difficult obsticles'

The question was 27 marks! And I really need to pass my English exam to get into my college course!

would I have failed? I need someones opinion other then my own as it is driving me crazy!

thanks in advance!

  1. Hey,

if the person marking even notices this mistake, they will remove minimal marks. Don't worry about it. I once wrote an essay about a topic completely different than what was asked, and my teacher liked it so much she gave me full marks!

  2. It seems that it's kinda low level english, considering that you're trying to get into a college course, where' u from?

  3. I don't think it mattered who you chose, it is how your wrote it.  I would consider Rocky a celebrity, as long as you gave a detailed, grammatically correct account on why you chose him, it shouldn't matter.

    GOOD LUCK

  4. It really doesn't matter if the person doesn't exist. It matters why you consider them that way. They fail you for your opinion. It's kind of cool that you picjed someone that's not real. It'll make your paper stand out.

Most people would have picked someone on the red carpet; so yours being different will only boost your score!

  5. Who cares if he existed or not. You may even fascinate the examiner thinking you know someone he does not know. When i used to write essays they told us that we can lie as much as we want and use our imagination the important thing is that you write it in a good standard.

So go boy, start celebrating you did well :P

  6. I did that paper as well and picked the same question. I heard that some people made up their celebrities completely as well. The key word in the question was explain so I think you are awarded marks on how well you explained and how good your English is rather than who the actual person was.

Good luck in your results and I'm sure  it doesn't matter at all.
