  1. Yes, Pastor is right, Brazil ask visa to countries that ask visas to Brazilians - I like that.

And you can have you visa fast through a visa express or at the brazilian embasy. We did and it was fast. We chose the 3 day one but you have the regular and it might arrive in less than a month. They they it could take 5 month but it always arrive/ or you get it in 2 weeks or less.

Pretty good. And enjoy the country is wonderful! Go to Bahia too!

  2. Brazil requires visas for US passports.  There are several types of visas but the most common is the Tourist Visa.  Some nationalities are not required tourist visas including South American countiries and some european countries (Andorra, Argentina, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Finland, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Malaysia, Monaco, Morocco, the Netherlands, Namibia, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Surinam, Sweden, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Uruguay, the Vatican and Venezuela).

Brazil has an international policy called reciprocity in which they attempt to make it about as difficult for a US citizen to get an Brazilian visa as it is for a Brazilian to get a USA visa in their Brazilian passport.  This includes the cost which is quite high,   USD$130.00 but this is what a Brazilian needs to pay for a US visa.

Visas are for up to 90 days and can be extended for an additional 90 days.

    I hope this helps.

  3. Depends on your nationality.

If you are American, Canadian, Australian, Japanese, Chinese or a few other nationalities: you need a visa issued at the consulate or embassy.

If you are European or South American: you do not, Visa is issued upon arrival.

Brazil used reciprocity. If a Brazilian citizen needs a visa to go to your country, you need one to come to Brazil.

There  are lots of people who want to ban such idea in order to increase tourism. It will never pass in congress.

  4. The country-by-country analysis is the one to go by. Some Europeans need visas. It all depends. For more information, follow the link below.
