I want to ask this guy I know, out on a date. Who would pay? Would I have to pay, since I asked him, or would he pay, since it's usually the guy who pays for the first date?

  1. Regardless of whichever s*x l guess the polite thing is to pay seeing you asked him out...

  2. It doesn't matter who asked who...

for the first few dates, split the bill.

Then once it gets more serious (if it does) who ever sets up the date pays.

  3. I think it's always the guy who pays.

Well, if you want you can since it's your first date. If he offers then that's good. But if you don't want him to shoulder all of it, split the cost.

  4. guy should always pay thats where his gentleminisim comes in

  5. As a guy, I would expect to pay my way, but as its a first date, if you can afford it, make it a 'treat'. If hes a gent, he will offer to pay, you can suggest he pays next time - fixing a second date!

  6. YOU asked, therefore YOU pay.  He will probably reach for the check or offer to pay, but you will smile and turn him down.

Good rule of thumb when dating:

Whoever asks, is the person who pays.  The other person is under no obligation to pay or to offer to pay.

Whoever DOESN'T ask should always have a credit/debit card or enough cash on hand to pay for their half . . . just in case.

And, until you get to know someone really well, it doesn't hurt to have enough cash with you to pay for the entire evening AND a cab home.

  7. In the eastern countries guys pay no matter who invited because guys works and earns where girls have less opportunity to work or earn so was before long time in the west too. But now the time is changed in the west guys and girls are self reliant so doesn't matter who pays so with some eastern countries too(now).

Still we some peoples maintain tradition, if he is traditional he will definitely pay.

  8. you would of course offer but if he's a gentleman he'll pick up the tab. good luck!

  9. Where did that rule come from? the guy pays. You want the pleasure of his company, you pay.

  10. You ask, you pay.
