  1. I think that China would be a great place to visit. You can read about studying abroad in China here:

  2. I loved my year in Japan as a high school exchange student.  It changed my life completely.

I taught for half a year in Beijing.  It was a good experience, but I had a hard time.  That may have been caused, in part, by arriving mid-year, so everyone else was well-established by the time I got there, and I had trouble finding my place, socially.

I found Nagoya, Japan, friendlier than Beijing, China.  However, a lot could have changed in recent years.

Both would be outstanding opportunities.  Make sure the exchange program is reputable and takes good care of its students.  Rotary is truly outstanding in both regards.

  3. Japan

  4. First off I have never been to China so anything I have is just hearsay.

However I have worked with quite a few people here in Japan that all prefer Japan to China.

They found living in China lonely, everyone was abrupt and that made it feel like everyone was being rude and agressive.

I know 4 people who came to Japan on High School exchange and all four returned at a later date because they loved it so much.

They all did homestays which they loved - even the person I know who had to change houses still loved it.

Japanese authorities are not unkind to visitors.  Especially not girls.  They do hassel the boys a bit, policeman stop them in the street just to check they should be there and such - but the reason this place is such a safe place is coz everyone here is a bit anal about the rules.  And the rules say policeman can stop you for no reason to check you are suppose to be there.

Otherwise everything runs very smoothly and quickly compared to other western countries.  There is a lot of red tape and it gets annoying but it's not unkind.

As far as students go, most people really want to hang with the gaijin student, it's pretty cool.  Although she may find that Japanese girls don't make friendships like western girls generally.  So if she is one of those 'just a few close friends' kinda girls I would say she shouldn't come to Asia at all.  It's mostly lots of acquaintences here.   50 year olds are still friends with the group they hung with in high school but they only see each other once a year and they consider that a good friendship.

I dont know anything about students in China.

  5. Thoese 2 culture and the people are completely different. Decide with her  interest. If she likes continent culture and Chinese people, and foods, then go to China.

  6. japan would b better between these two.but remember, most probably,ur sis will have to learn their languages first in these two countries..!why dnt u let ur sis study in us or aus...??? that would b much much better...
