No. He couldn't have stayed that far away for 15 rounds. He would have gotten 'stalked and knocked'. Joe Louis could set traps like no other. Young, like Norton just matched up well with Ali.

No way!  Jimmy was very clever and most boxing folks know about his fight with Ali which many felt that he deserved to win and his win over George Foreman.  Joe Louis would have just went about his business cutting off the ring and would have eventually caught Young with some blistering punches probably in about the 7th or 8th rounds and beat him by technical knockout in my opinion.

Style makes fight. If Billy Conn can outbox Joe for 14 rounds before he got cocky and trade with him then anything is possible. Joe Louis will win but it will be closer than most people think.
