Expectations have risen a great deal at the Turin outfit, where Champions League football was eluding them; they now find themselves defending their Serie A title.
Juventus is the most successful club in the history of Italian football, and for a club decorated with accolades; Juventus finds themselves in hot waters a little too often. They have found themselves to be part of controversies on a number of occasions
and have stuck it to the authority’s one too many times.
Juve have now become one of the lesser liked clubs by the Italian footballing authorities. Despite the history and the greatness that Juventus is known to protrude, they have never had that same air of confidence about them ever since the Calciopoli controversy,
which saw the then Serie A Champions demoted to the Serie B with a deduction in points. Besides the demotion, the two Scudetti that the club won in 2005 and 2006 under the tutelage of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello was also taken away from them.
The club has failed to live up to the standard of play that has come to be expected of the Bianconeri in the past; the squad depleted after the Calciopoli scandal as well, but the crux of the squad remained.
The best that Juventus could do was finishing in third place under the coaching of Claudio Ranieri. However, in the two seasons between 2009 and 2011, Juve only managed to finish in the seventh position.
After a couple of disappointing seasons, Juventus opted to hire the services of the former player and fan’s favourite, Antonio Conte, who had recently guided AC Siena back into the Serie A in his first season at the club.
Conte was appointed as the Juventus head coach on the 22nd of May in 2011 and replaced Luigi Delneri as the club tactician. The Bianconeri’s decision to hire Conte as the replacement proved to be an inspired one as the fan’s favourite guided them
to an incredible season. He helped himself into the history books of the club as he guided the club to an unprecedented Scudetto victory.
The Bianconeri outfit were one of the most fluid and well oiled teams in the Serie A, and they were hailed by Arrigo Sacchi to be playing the best football in the Serie A. The Turin outfit spent most of the second half of the 2011-12 season competing against
AC Milan for the Scudetto, there were ups and downs during this period, as Milan overcame the lead of Juventus and led the table for a number of weeks; however, Juventus fought back hard and gained momentum to reduce the lead and ultimately overtook the then
holding Scudetto Champions.
Juventus won the Scudetto on the second last match day as they were victorious against Cagliari with a score line of 2-0. There was still one match remaining for Juventus to create history, and they did it after securing a win against a tricky side.
Juve became the first side to remain unbeaten throughout the course of a season after they defeated Atalanta 3-1. They have been the first team to secure this feat ever since the premier Italian league increased to 20 teams and 38 match days.
The second part of this feature would deal with the 2011-12 team and the recent acquisitions made by the club on their route to defending the Lega crown.
