  1. Yes

  2. Well, I think that Kiss' music would be looked at as the same. However, their concerts may not have done as well. I think (personally) that Kiss put on the best shows of the 70s. However, the best rock music was made by AC/DC! ROCK ON!!!

  3. No. Starting out the image Kiss perceived onstage with their make up, Vegas style lighting and stage show as well as the costumes made Kiss what they were. For the most part the music wasnt that great,it was image. After the allure of the make up wore off,Kiss decided to joing the "hair band" revolution forgoing the make up and dark costumes for more colorful outfits. When their popularity began to fade again (case in point, I worked for them in 93 and the venue was half full)

they decided it was time to play the nestalgia card, reunite with Ace and Peter and put back on the make up and costumes.(the idea came when Kiss played an episode of MTVs Unplugged and were reunited by Peter and Ace). To make the announcement, they made a surprise walk on appearance in full make up on the Grammys, introduced by Tu-Pac.

Of course the reunion didnt last long what with Gene and Paul getting most of the money from the tour and merchandising.

  4. I'm pretty sure they tried it in the 80's, about the time of big hair bands like Cinderella, Ratt, and others...and it just didn't work for them on the MTV generation.

Sad but true! (Now Metallica just kicks @$$, without the need for makeup)

  5. They would be precisely the same size, but not as pretty.

  6. I think they already proved that theory in the late 80's and 90's.So my guess would be yeah pretty much.

  7. Honey , I remember when they took off their make up the first time. Ewwww.... those were some ugly mugs under all that paint.

Anywhoo.... I think they needed their make up as part of their stage show and part of the mystery that got them going back in the 70s. NO ONE knew what they looked like at all. It was a great gimmick. I don't think they would have made it big at all without the make up.

  8. Honestly, I think they would be big, but not as big as they are.

  9. Of course not. It's all about the show...the stage presence and performance is what made KISS big. That's what we had. Some people, like Dylan, have the lyrics. Others, like the Stones, have the weaving guitars. KISS had incredibly elaborate shows...

  10. No...The makeup was part of their persona.  They would never have been able to pull off that image with just the clothes...

  11. No not even close.  That is pretty much what they are known for.  Their music is mediocre at best and none of them are exceptionally talented so they probably would've just been another band that woulda come and gone in a few years.

  12. I believe so yes!

  13. I don't think so.  That was one of the gimmicks that got them great notoriety in the beginning.

  14. Probably not.  That was half of the attraction back then.

  15. i think they would still be big but not AS big... because a lot of their fame come from how they were perceived as "satanic" and the makeup played a good part in that. and without the make up they might have been seen as a little less of a threat to the moms back then lol

  16. When in the heck was this question asked...1975?  Boy, Y!A sure must have been taking one h**l of a breather this time!
