I believe esoteric taoism is a bit "beyond" these considerations, and would suggest that if people would just make the effort to be connected to Tao all would fall into place naturally.  It is because humans have separated themselves from Nature and Tao and are so ego ridden and dysfunctional that all of those concepts and rules "need" to exist.  :))
