As much as I love Manny and as good a fighter as he is, I just can't see him going all the way up to 147 and beating Oscar. Oscar is 5'11" and Pacquiao is 5'5", plus Oscar may not even be able to make '47 since he fighting at '54 now (though he did fight Steve Forbes at 150). Oscar is just too big and strong for Manny. I'm a huge Pacquiao fan but I think facing Oscar would be suicide for Pac Man.

Your thoughts Gentlemen?

  1. It's hard to believe that Pac could go up that high of a % of his natural weight and beat Oscar. That would be like a middleweight fighting a heavyweight.

  2. thats a lot of weight he'll need to gain.

  3. this fight wont happend manny is great and all but he is not ready for oscar if it happends this year oscar would ko him in 2-3 rounds i would rather see him fight fighters like coto, margarito, haton oscar is on his way out

  4. A good big boxer will always beat a good small boxer. Oscar has a naturally bigger body frame.

  5. I dont see Pac winnin that fight even if Oscar is out his prime, I just cant picture it

  6. He would kill him.  Oscar is old and over hyped

  7. Only people from the philliphines will tell you that Manny could win this fight, De La Hoya even at his ripe old age would still teach Manny a boxing lesson up at the bigger weights, Oscar is too technically adept to let a fighter like the pacman walk up to a weight that he has no recignition of and deal with a fighter who has been on top for years, this would be the biggest mistake of Mannys career so far without doubt. Hatton might knock him out never lone Oscar.

  8. No, it's too great a leap.  Manny should never fight any higher than 140.

  9. to those who think manny can really defeat dela hoya, pls wake up. this is not a fantasy anymore, boxing is a brutal sport you can not just let a boxer's life in jeopardy for entertainment purposes. Manny will be endangering himself to a serious injury,  pls. don't take this this fight seriously because this will never happen.

  10. I agree with you Pancho. But boxing is turning out to be like the WWF circus....full of clowns.  They are matching Oscar with PAC because the money potential is great. ...what is next Manny vs tiger from India in a locked cage?

Of course is not wise for pac. this match is pointless from the smaller boxer (pac).

  11. i think pacquiao would get dimolished by de la hoya.

  12. no

  13. I saw Manny fight one time, and I have to say that he is, IMO, at present the best fighter pound for pound.  Oscar has slowed down , and he is not as strong as he was about 5 years ago.  He is not as fast as he use to be either. Manny is fast, accurate and he carries a punch, and IMO, he would likely KO Oscar in about 9 to 10 rounds because he would hit him so many times.  I also think that Mayweather retired because he knew he was going to have to fight Manny and he would lose.

  14. Anyhting is possible if you work hard and believe. And oscar is old and washed up.

  15. That was impossible, youre pitting a goat to fight with a cow, let's get real, Manny has no chance, Let them play 9 ball billiards and Manny would win.

  16. I don't believe that Pacman would beat De La Hoya. Sure, I would be rooting for Pacman, but you are talking about a guy that used to fight at 112 pounds, and the last time I checked, De La Hoya was around 150 pounds. If they fight, De La Hoya won't knock him out, but he'll win by a UD.

  17. I don't think Manny Pacquiao is able to beat Oscar De La Hoya, but I have my reason why I am worried about Oscar.....

  18. I think he has a good shot....dlh is not the fighter he used to be and manny doesn't seem to slow down so if they make the weight (147) i think it could be a great match, and a good one for them financially .....

  19. I will say this again, Pacquiao is letting the $$$'s go to his head and it will obviously be his downfall. Pacquiao has not even fought the best of the lightweights. David Diaz was the weakest of the belt holders. There are many great fighters such as Juan Diaz, Nate Campbell, Joel Casamayor, Michael Katsidis, and even some of the former jr. lightweights who have recently moved to lightweight such as Joan Guzman and Edwin Valero. A rematch with Juan Manuel Marquez would also be a good match up now that he too is a lightweight. Besides that point, Oscar has fought at Welterweight and Jr. Middleweight for almost a decade. Though no longer in his prime, he will be the biggest and strongest fighter that Pacquiao has ever fought. Manny would undeniably get Pacquiaod right into submission.

  20. i think yes.. manny is a very good fighter,,

he has speed which de la hoya is lack of, his right and left combination is very dangerous..

so manny can fight and win against de la hoya..

  21. Holy c**p that would be awesome.  I think De la Hoya is too big for him but I love it that Pacquiao isn't afraid of fighting big time guys.  What happened to the days of boxers unafraid of blemishes on their records?

  22. The same thing that happened to Oscar when he moved up to fight Bernard Hopkins would happen to Pacquiao if he moves up to fight Oscar. He may hang for a few rounds off guts and heart but eventually Oscar's size and power would take over and he'll KO Manny by the 8th if not sooner.

Manny needs to fight some good lightweights first, there are plenty of them out there. I'd like to see Manny against Joel Casamayor, that would be an interesting fight. Manny's got the Floyd Mayweather disease and he wants to go after the big money now instead of cleaning up his own division where a lot of good fighters are.

Oscar would knock him back into reality.

  23. Not at all. Pacquiao started out his career at 105. He is too small to fight someone that's had their best results at welterweight.

  24. Pacquiao will knock Oscar out. Pacquiao is at his prime. He is at the best he will ever be in his whole career. Oscar is way out of his prime. He's too slow and everything.

  25. d**n! OSCAR DE LA HOYA CAN'T EVEN PULL THE TRIGGER IN 3 SECONDS... HE'S OLD, AND NOTHING BUT OLD MAN. PACMAN CAN BEAT THE GOLDEN BOY BY KNOCKOUT! BELIEVE THAT.

  26. Bring it.

    .

  27. no way he could touch de la hoya he has been training like a beast oscar wants to make his last fight a win

  28. when pacquiao - de la hoya fight happens,it would be a draw when it came to score cards.....

  29. Manny Pacquiao is an excellent boxer,Oscar de La Hoya is a good boxer too.will be a good fighting .

Oscar de La Hoya will win for sure.

  30. his odds are slim to none. this will probably be hoyas last fight so he wants to go out on top.

  31. manny has his advantages also. he is younger and quicker and he also got some power. however, too bad manny is shorter than oscar. but if manny will fight oscar at 145 and at fight nyt manny will be around at 148llbs minumun and 150llbs maximum, oscar will have a hard time. manny was aroung 145-147llbs when he fought diaz and he still has his speed and the power was there. however, oscar is older and slower but he is taller, and i think he might have a hard time trimming down. both got there power also.so if you weigh in the respective advatages and disadvantages of both boxers, they seemingly cancel each other out. so  i guess it will be the will to win and which boxer want it more. i go for manny though.
