  1. Did he really win number 7?  Looks like he came in second to me.  He's an amazing athlete that's for sure.

  2. No, pity he retired

  3. Well we will never know for sure, but I think he would still have had a great chance... Yes I think he would still have gotten all 8 =D

  4. I very much doubt it, but even if he did, it would have been very, very, very close shaves. So close that Phelps will probably walk out of the pool wobbling after every race.

You dont wanna mess with the Aussies when it comes to swimming.

  5. I think so. The only way to find out is if it really did happen.

But yeah, Phelps would still have gotten all 8 medals.

  6. I think so.

  7. Thank you for asking this question. This is the most sensible question I've heard regarding Phelps.

When Thorpe was around, he was taking all the gold and was always in the limelight. Phelps always had to settle for the silver and was not much talked about. Now that Thorpe has retired, Phelps is conveniently taking up the first place and getting very complacent. See videos on youtube on Thorpe constantly beating Phelps for the gold.

A real winner would rejoice the way Phelps did when he won all 8 gold if he competed with a worthy opponent and won.

  8. He wouldn't have retired if he still wanted to swim, so yes, probably..

  9. No!

I think Kobe said it best... "They should check Phelps for gills, not steroids."

  10. Yes, Michael Phelps has the fastest time ever recorded in every single individual event he participated in. Ian Thorpe did only one stroke. Phelps won events at two different strokes then won the Medley's.  Thorpe is overrated IMO.

  11. Simple answer. No !

  12. Yes, just look at grant hackett who was the reigning Athens champion

  13. I think so. Thorpe is well past his best now. Let's not forget that it was Phelps that pushed Thorpe in to Retirement just as Thorpe pushed our double Gold hero from Atlanta; Danyon Loader in to retirement after the '98 Comm. Games in KL.

  14. Obviously we can't know for sure.  However it might have made his 8 golds even more impressive if Thorpe was in the water.
