  1. What a fool, sexual coersion by his girl-friend. Worse he still cannot admit his wrongdoing and attempted to blame his dismissal upon others

  2. Paul Wolfowitz will be administratively charged for the offenses he committed such as abuse of authority while President of the World Bank.  Thus, he will be removed from office had he not resigned.

  3. Can they cut the c**p and call it the "colonial bank".

A true "world bank" would not allow its leader to be appointed by someone elected by just about 2% of the world's population...

  4. Without a doubt. Wolfowitz claimed he was innocent of all ethical violations and that the charges were mere smears. A Bank committee investigated and issued a strongly worded report that concluded that Wolfowitz had indeed violated the Bank's rules when he negotiated the raise for his girlfriend. It issued a thinly veiled recommendation that the board fire Wolfowitz. At this point, the Bush administration withdrew its support, so certainly the Bank's Board of Directors would have fired him. Nonetheless, Wolfowitz tried to negotiate a deal where, in return for his resignation,  the Bank would  state that Wolfowitz had been ethical. The Bank's statement included conciliatory language that accepted Wolfowitz's claim of good faith but the Bank refused to affirmatively state Wolfowitz had acted ethically. This alone proves that if he did not resign, he would have been fired.

  5. To all purposes he was fired.

People resign from these positions to avoid the spectacle of being fired.

  6. Maybe. Only the President of the United States can nominate the President of the World Bank but the World Bank has to confirm the nomination.
