  1. Theres no sight like hind sight

As good as Franklin is, he is still inaccurate in front of goals 8/6 on the weekend and last year I think he kicked 11 behinds before bagging a major

The Richmond selectors might have thought they had  that base covered with Richo, one inaccurate forward is enough.

All club selectors are guilty, Hawthorn knocked back Judd and in the 80's released some bloke called Ablett to Geelong

  2. I think a brief search of today's great players will show that the top 10 picks are not always assured of great players

    Hird was pick 79th

Adelaide over looked Pavlic for his friend McGregor

    Freemantle didn't want McCleod

    Jonathan Brown was pick 30th

    Adam Goodes pick 43

    The list goes on

  3. Naturally everything would be better in hindsight.

Apparently though, the Richmond recruiters have been the worst for the last decade and so not that they would admit it but I would agree and say that Franklin would've been the better option.

Clubs pick who they believe is the best for their club at the time and for Richmond that was Tambling. I mean, nothing against Luke Ball, he is a great player and all, but it would've been great if StKilda (my club) got Chris Judd in the 2001 Draft. And maybe if we did he wouldn't have been homesick and ended up at Carlton!

So, while I agree with you, I think that EVERYONE, not just Richmond supporters would love the power of hindsight.

Especially in regards to late draft picks, for example Sam Fisher (Draft Pick #55, 2003) would've been great for clubs like Brisbane, Carlton and (i guess) Richmond and Melbourne who would all love to have a better defence at their clubs.

  4. I'm a hawks fan and very grateful for the tigers decision. I think it will give the tigers extra incentive on the weekend though.

  5. WELL IT DOESNT MATTER ANYMORE CAUSE THE HAWKS HAVE THE LEGEND BUDDY FRANKLIN

  6. G'day Forky,

Yeah hindsight is a great thing. But we have Delidio who is shaping up very nicely, and finally Tambling is starting to show some good form. But yeah I drool at the thought of Buddy kicking a bag for the Yellow n Black. The guy is a freak & could well kick a ton this year.

  7. i think Buddy should just stay where he is. itd be wierd to see him with another team. he fits so well in at Hawthorn.

  8. Yes they would. But s***w Richmond, if anyone needs Franklin it's West Coast.

  9. LOL i reckon the name David Rodan would also haunt the Richmond football club as well!! No wonder Richmond have been cellar dwellers for the last couple years! well least they still got Richo and his handbag!

  10. G'day Fork, As a tiger fan, i can say, bloody oath we would like the power of hindsight, out recruiting dept have been shocking, we kept going after quick small blokes instead of big forwards and defenders,   defenders are what the tiger's have needed for years, good big key position blokes, all we had was that overrated dud, Darren Gaspar, who used to run around like a headless chook, all he could do was spoil, but make a decision with the ball in his hands, no that was beyond the idiot.

wish we had of got Franklin, but no good wishing mate.

  11. who is too say he would of done any good and Richmond

Tambling is a good player he just need mores support

  12. Macca has given us some great stats, and of course, those who stand out in youth don't always stand up in the big league. The Tigers might have thought he was gangly and awkward. At this point Franklin is terrific but who knows what the future might hold for him. If he ever cops a severe injury, he might never be the same, we have seen that a bit over the years.

  13. I don't understand ?????
