  1. No.However aggressive competition in sports is healthier than making war, n'est-ce pas!

  2. As Rome became ever more decadent, the tyrants made certain that the People were fed enough and were entertained. This kept most of the People content enough to accept the rest of the problems.

Today it's McDonald's and NFL (or some close equivalents).

But it cannot last. Eventually something will fail, and chaos ensue!

  3. Be real!  a stick and rock makes a sport.  legs and arms will run and throw.

  4. No. why so?

  5. People rebel anyway, although, the Colosseum sure seemed to    help keep the Romans from getting bored, but that was beyond sports.

  6. There are rebels in Sports also. Period

  7. Competition and play are part of the human makeup, and sports can provide a safer outlet for these drives than violence. If sports did not exist, it would be necessary to invent them.

  8. If sports didn't exist, we'd not care, because no-one would know what it is. See, if something didn't exist, then we would have no reason to rebel, so no, we'd simply not know.

Now if you mean; "Would people rebel if they got rid of sports?" Then yes they would, but they would either get over it and find another pass-time or they would stop caring.

  9. I don't know if People would rebel if Sports did not exist.

My belief is that for people to rebel, there must be a strong cause.  People should reach the point of no return.

It is true though that through sports, masses steam off by expressing their aggressiveness on rather "harmless" events, b letting go fighting over their football clubs or their fav. athlete and world records.  Sports is a mean of helping people "escape" from their bitter reality.  In this way, sports might be rather than an aspirin for a headache....  but the society is not suffering from headache...  sadly, enough times, society is gravely ill and aspirin can not do much...

  10. No. Most people are couch potato who don't like sports.

They will rebel if soap opera did not exist.

  11. To be rebellious is a part of human nature... I don't think sports affects that in any way. We will always find a reason to revolt.

  12. You could have something there, because people could get more angry because they have no way of letting out their anger (as in doing running, or other kinds of sports). Sport not only keeps us healthy, but is an outlet for stress and anger too. Plus, competetiveness is quite healthy in sport too, so that part would be taken away. So, yes, i think people would be more rebellious without the existence of any sports...
