  1. Many like  me will not refer to http:/ www and all that garbage for we want to to be flexible. As for a GPS, it has to be programmed for a single course. A golfer is much better off if he purchases a good range finder which can be used anywhere for measuring distance and for marshalling golf tournaments if he is also into giving back to the game.

  2. I Purchased a GPS a few months ago and I looked at the same link as you , I ended up going for the Skycaddie 2.5 It is great , its small ( Actually smaller than my cellphone ) it holds 10 courses in its memory , its easy to setup and add or subtract golf courses from the website , the screen is very easy to read and it gives you all the info you need , I can honestly say it has shaved 3-4 strokes off my game and I was already a single digit handicap , I was really shocked at how much alot of the yardages were inaccurate just using the regular markers on the course , hey a few yards off can make a big difference , anyway good luck in your search .

  3. Would that page help - sure.  I did not use it when I purchased my iGolf, however.  I used information from other players, plus hands on comparisons, to make my decision.  I believe I made a good choice, and is works well for me.

  4. I thought about buying a GPS device for my husband and I looked at several of the ones on the list.  Ultimately we chose to go with GolfTraxx, an application that runs on his Blackberry.  Our favorite course is in their database and we can map a course ourselves (using google earth) when we travel if the one(s) we are going to play are not yet there.

What is really cool is that we don't ever have to worry about forgetting the GPS or synching (sp?) with a PC.  Everything is done on the device once we got the software loaded.

At 30 bucks it is dirt cheap - less than a dozen balls!  And because we loaded a course within 30 days, they actually refunded the purchase price.  Turns out we could have mapped first and never even had to "buy it".    We are trying to map as man as we can because they are also giving away a weeks lodging in Palm Springs for something like 100 courses.
