I am 14 and I pet sit for the people of my neighborhood when they go on vacation and stuff. I started last year and charged 3 Per visit, when I went to let out this lady's dog. So about 12-15 dollars per day(although she was very cheap and only paid 12$ a day) Throughout the year I raised my price to 4$ a visit, or I have a deal where its 15$ a day for 4 visits and a short walk. The same lady hired me again, and i went over to her house to learn the procedure on how to take care of the dog. Nothing about costs came up. My mom was mad that i didn't tell her about my price change. I mostly didnt becase I forgot and i was a little nervouse she would be upset and cancell with me. So now my mom is trying to get me to call her and say, "hey I raised my prices and its this much more, and i just thought i just should call up and tell ya." I however think that sounds pushy and rude. I think i would be better off to leave an invoice on there kitchen counter, with the total. So i will get paid what i want and there is no way out of it. What should I do? I am so lost!!!!

  1. i think u should tell her, and tell her that the days that already passed, u will forgive her, but the next few days, u will charge her the new price

  2. yah that phone call would be rude. I think the invoice/bill is a good idea

  3. Telling her shows professionalism.

  4. If you had already done the work then you cannot say you raised your prices. It is rude, and it is your fault you didn't bring it up, just tell her next time it will be $4 and not $3!

  5. No I think your mom is wright you should call them.  Do not leave a note I would much rather get a call than a note on the counter.  I would throw the note away feel insulted that you could not talk to me.

  6. Well i would just be kind and polite and let the lady know that you raised the price... i would either call here or tell her in person.. i would not just leave something on the lady counter I think that would be rude to do that.. BUt really you gotta tell the lady.. and if you dont then you cant be mad and you'll just get paid what she gives you

  7. Your idea is good, just leave an invoice or next time your their just tell her very politely you forgot to tell her about the price increase and how you hope it wont be an inconvenience. What your mom wants you to do sounds awkward. If that lady has a problem with it, look for somewhere else to offer your services...no big deal ;)

  8. In a personal business like this I think it is better to tell the person you have to charge more and the reasons why. I know you don't have to but if she was one of your first customers and thereby helped you get started I think it is only fair.

  9. What is the reason for the price increase? Is it just a whim or is it really necessary? Is this woman a good customer? Think about it. Once you lose a customer, it is very difficult to get them back.
