It says it has 100% of your daily B12, but am I better off taking a pill or some other food?

  1. I wouldn't think so, assuming you eat the cereal every single day, which is doubtful.

By the way, some Total cereals contain dried milk or milk derivatives.

  2. total is a good choice.  you should get your vitamins in food instead of pill, cause you'll probably just pee it out.  total should do the trick.

  3. Total, or any other fortified cereal is better then taking pills.

BTW: If your old enough and drink beer, draft beer is a good source of B12.

  4. I'd recommend taking a supplement once a week or geez at least once a month just to be sure that you are absorbing as much as you can.

All vegetarians should take a B12 supplement regularly since most people eat meat, dairy AND fortified cereals yet still have a B12 status that is lower than recommended.

There is so much misinformation going around about veg*n sources of B12. Please read that article to get the actual tested and true facts that can't be argued.

  5. There is a myth that you must supplement a vegan/vegetarian diet with vitamin B-12 pills. That is not always the case. Many vegetarians do not need to do this. If you have any doubts, a blood test will determine if you are deficient.
