Question:

Would YOU buy from this store? (Pet stuff)?

I'd like opinions and critique on my website. I know there's nothing on the online store yet - I have only just done the website in the past few hours so haven't had time yet!

Any opinions gratefully received (and why not sign the guestbook!!)

I'd just like to know if YOU would buy from here, and if not, why not. Thanks :-)

  1. I would not buy from this store....

...on account of the link does not work :-)

  2. I would probably avoid buying from this store, as the website just isn't professional.

  3. I would not, i already have a good pet store where i shop on line. But if i didn't i would try it out. It looks good, it attracted my attention (in a good way) and the graphics are not bad either.

    Keep up the good work.

  4. Nothing wrong with the web site, but you are coming across as wholesale rather than pet retail. Your target customers are stables and pet shops and your bulk products profit margins are subject to you selling inside a local radius of your location.

If I was close enough, I would come and have a look at what you have. Subject to price and quality, I would buy and if I did then I would have no problem recommending by word of mouth, which is how most horse related business is done.

I would suggest you add delivering the big bags of dried dog food/wild bird seed etc. If you are offering a delivery service it has to be cost effective to keep the vehicle on the road.

Best of luck in your new venture, starting a new business in the present economic climate won't be easy.

  5. No i wouldn't buy from here, i wouldn't buy from anywhere that was using a freeweb host. It doesn't show much confidence, you either haven't the money to buy and create a website from scratch - which makes me think how can i trust a company that doesn't do the most basic things to get business. And free websites are full of scams, so i'd pass it up for an established website with a well designed website!

  6. Yes, I would.

  7. It looks as though you're aiming at a very local market (from the info in your delivery section), so I'm guessing that you're looking at cash on collection/delivery?

In which case, yes, I'd buy from it if I lived locally to you.

If you're aiming at a wider market, you don't mention how you expect to be paid - this would be my main problem buying from the site.  (Have you looked at getting yourself something like a PayPal shopping cart?)

This is a very minor gripe, but where you say about sourcing your straw, it's 'from whom' not 'from who' (little things make a lot of difference to the image you project).

I'd have more of a problem with that than it being a 'free site' to be honest.  Everyone has to start somewhere but if you project a 'professional' image, you're on your way.

    Love those dogs!

    Edit:

Beg your pardon - you do have a cart!

I didn't look at the store page as you said it was empty.

It would be a good idea to mention something about that on your delivery page though.

    Another edit.......

You really need to show some kind of 'privacy policy' if you're going to be collecting personal details.  Your customers want to know that their details are a) safe with you and b) that they aren't going to be spammed (by you and others).

I just though of this after signing your guestbook.

Oh, something else (bet you wish you'd never asked!)

Can you get rid of the IP addresses showing in your guestbook?  They're only partial, but not a good idea to have them on there.  If you can't you might want to think about getting rid of the guestbook completely for now - this info shouldn't be on public display like that (VERY important!)

  8. I wouldn't by anything as I don't have a horse.

  9. I have hens, and I would buy from you if the site was a store. I never buy my hay online, nor anything else pet related. Your site's graphics were nice and the site was easy to navigate. It was colourful and all the grammar was correct (which is fantastic!) I am wondering if you did your own graphics or if they were a premade layout by Freewebs. THis doesn't subtract from the website, I am just wondering.

Nice work and good luck with your business.
