Would a 3 by 3 1 foot dept pond be good for a baby catfish? a couple other catfish question too easy if had on

1)I want the catfish to grow big like 1/2 food long but will the 3 by 3 1 foot dept pond be good? (the pond is home made)

2) does the baby catfish need a pomp or no

3) will rain kill the fish its a baby cuz the acid rain?

4) what can i feed him should i drop in there some worms or what?

Your biggest concern on a pond that size is that it is not deep enough to provide cover from predators or to avoid extreme temperature shifts.  Warm water holds lest oxygen, but a pump that aerates the water would help you there.

I don't think acid rain is really much of a concern.

Feed him often for max growth, but don't leave leftover food in the water, it will pollute it. I'f look into some high protein fish food.

1) The pond if plenty big enough for a fish under 6 inches long.

2) I think a pump would be safe, and it will keep the water from getting green too quickly.

3)If it is acid rain than yes. If it is regular rain no it will actually be good for the fish giving it oxygen.

4)you can drop worms in there,minnows, small cut fish, they will eat just about anything.

I will also add:  you see your main concern is depth . in the North its ice and snow depth on the pond this does 2 things .the ice could form all the way to the bottom, and ice ans snow blocks out oxygen killing the weeds etc.suggestion make the biggest pond you can afford in Michigan pounds need to be at least 8 ft.deep. also the bigger the pond the bigger the fish.

  catfish will eat anything dog food is good and cheap, don`t over feed.
