  1. I'm assuming that you mean a +4 as in four better than scratch.  If thats the case thats better than I was when I graduated high school and I got a couple D1 offers.  If you mean that you're a 4 handicap I would say thats a little high for any D1 team.  As for the team you were talking about, If they shot 44 over par the coach is most likely looking for players to improve his team and not keep it where it is.

  2. +4 handicap could legitimately have a great shot at passing Q School let alone D1 golf!?!

  3. A +4 handicap would be able to play college golf.  You would not be able to play as a pro with a +4 handicap.  The people who said you would, have no idea what they are talking about.  To Monday qualify for a PGA Tournament, you have to have a handicap of 1.4 or lower.  Anyone who plays golf knows how hard it is to shave 3 strokes off your handicap.  If you can shoot consistently in the low 70's(74 and less) you can play D1 golf.

  4. yeah most definitely...there are guys on my high school team around the 0 to +1 range and you are a little better than that so yes

  5. Yes! Defiantly!!

  6. yea. i am a junior in high school right now. and i am looking at schools. what i have been doing is going to the colleges sites and looking up their golf program, and then go under statistics. and it will tell you the players on their team and their averages. this is a good way to find a goal of the numbers you need to get. if you truly are shooting those numbers you will have no problem at all getting into a D1 school for golf. check into it though, and make sure that is what you really want to do. because as i am doing the whole college search thing right now. D1 golf is intense, most schools your classes have to end before noon because of tournys and practice schedules!

  7. Yes it would be good enough to play D1 golf and proboly even could do Q-shool.

  8. If you are a legitimate +4 and can play to it under tournament pressure, you would make a fine D1 golfer.  I played college golf and there were always kids like you that I would meet at parties who said they were good enough but the coach did this or that. blah blah blah.   The best 5 golfers in the school will play on the team. period and end of story.  Anything else is an excuse.  No coach turns away top talent for these silly reasons that I've heard.

  9. If you are shooting +4 from the tips on about a 7200 yard golf course then I would say you have an ok shot at getting on a D1 team.  But, college schools don't just look at your handicap, they go more off of tournament experience.  If you can win some prestigious tournaments, then those D1 schools will take notice.

  10. +4 would be a pro and would kill college golfers.

  11. 44 over par as a team doesn't tell me anything. Many D1 schools shoot that, and higher, on difficult golf courses under challenging weather conditions. When you say +4, are you saying you are better then scratch, or 4 shots worse than scratch?

D1 golf is EXTREMELY COMPETITIVE. You didn't say where you are attending college. Some D1 programs have golfers who ALL averaged par or better in high school. If the coach doesn't want you, then my advice is to write ten other schools you want to attend, and talk to the golf coach at those schoools. You may not be able to secure a spot on a D1 program, so you should strongly consider trying to look at D2 and NAIA programs.
