I will be about 25-100 ft deet at the most and it doesn't need to be the warmest out there I'm not a wuss when it comes to colder terms but I don't want my head to be a slushy either. I am getting offered a very good deal on one but I don't know if I should buy it.

Thanks,

Shane

  1. 5mm is standard. Plenty warm as well since I use one for ice diving. If anything, your fingers will go numb first. That deal is only a good one if the hood is right for your suit. There are two styles of hood. One for dry suits and one for wet. The former has no upper chest and back of neck material. It's just for your mellon. The wet suit hood has material that tucks in under your wetsuit, front and back, which if you're diving dry, won't go under the suit neck seal. Get the right one.

  2. I would say, it should be okay. After all it's a very good deal you say. Maybe you won't get a better oppurtunity. And 5mm should be okay. I'm sure you'll manage, just buy it. As you said yourself. You don't mind the cold that much, as long as you're warm and it's not like you're on Mount Everst or something so it's okay. All the very best to you. 100ft! that really is deep.
