Would a AquaClear 70 be to much on my 28gallon freshwater tank?

I have an AquaClear 50 but it won't turn on. There's no fish in the tank at this time. But I'm thinking of black skirt tetras.

  1. Nope, the more filtration the better. I use a filter on a 90 gallon tank that is suitable for 240 gallons, plus an extra AC110, and the fish thrive. Bigger filters mean more biological and mechanical filtration and will leave the water better. Besides allowing you to stock the tank to it's limits.

  2. There's absolutely nothing wrong with over-filtering a tank.  The additional gph will provide extra oxygen which your tropical fish will appreciate.  You may need to face the water return into a tank side or turn the flow on low.
