Would a Maxtor Sata II hard drive be compatible with my ASUS motherboard?

I have an ASUS A7V8X motherboard from 2003/2004, will it work with the new generation of hard drives?

SATA 2s are often backward compatible. Look up your specific MOBO model (should be near the DIMM slots) and read the full specs.

If the motherboard has a SATA II interface slot, if not you can get one for your PCI slot to expand it. So yea it will work.
