  1. I wouldnt get nether until you research them. niles are very aggressive, and savannahs require tons of attention, and the feeding is very expensive

  2. For once all of these people are correct, they are vicious and unfriendly. personally i dont think any tank is big enough for them so unless your thinking of converting it a room id forget about it. and yes it would try and eat the tortoise you silly person but it would probably just experiance a horrible death before the monitor gives up.

  3. I suggest you buy neither unless you have previous experience with monitors. Monitors are not like every other lizard they get very big, and have much greater needs for care, they are costly to care for and should only be kept by people with the proper experience, knowledge, and financial stability that will let them take of it to its fullest needs. By you asking such a question i don't believe you have all these requirements needed to own one, i believe you should look into getting something other then a monitor

  4. i belive you should listen to william.

  5. william and co are right, if you were to let a nile monitor loose in your frontroom, you wouldnt have any furniture left let alone a tortoise, despite what you read in the many books (written by yanks) niles are seldom tamed and savannahas take some work. bearded dragons, these are not, both have a serious bite (and they will bite) that would most definetly require a visit to hospital, claws that are razor sharp attached to powerful hind limbs and a tail that is only too eager to give you a severe lash the moment you look away. also when full grown you would be looking at a tank of 6ft by 3ft by 3ft at a very bare minimum, for  a nile, this is not to say they dont make good pets, but im not sure they are the kind of pet your looking for.
