Would a Quad be good for East Coast waves?

Question

Yeah, I've been posting a lot of surfing questions lately, but this is my last one.

Do you guys think a Quad, in general, is a good type of board for semi-small Virginia Beach waves?

(If it has to be specific, I'm gonna get a 6'4" Bat-tailed Hotline board.)

Yeah, I've asked the local board shops and stuff,

but I want another opinion.

i live in vb and so far i've regretted selling my mini mal so im stuck with my 5'10 shortboard and so far i have not surfed anything thats even worth cutting up since it is summer time we barely see anything until hurricanes come near, but my friend recently bought a quad tail and hes pretty satisfied with it he says there is more drive to it rarely having to pump on smaller days so yeah i would suggest a quad fish but i don't know about hotline that company is a sell-out

Yeah, they are great for smaller waves.

Mate - I live on the East Coast of Australia and recently bought a 6'3" Simon Anderson quad - it is one of the best boards I have ever owned - I would recommend trying one out. Also some shops in Sydney have boards that you can try out before you buy - why not ask your local shop if they have any you can borrow.

The biggest problem I had with the quad was finding the correct fins to work on it - don't be afraid to experiment - I currently use a stiff pair of carbon fins for the front two and a flexible pair on the back - also make sure you use rear thruster fins (double foiled) on the back to ensure you get all the drive that you need.
