Would a UK ID card be accepted in France?

i have an ID card which has UK printed on it, but it is valid ID and is accepted perfectly here. however, i am soon travelling to France for a few weeks, and as i am quite small often get asked for ID, and i am wondering if my UK ID card will be accepted in France. it is photo ID and has my date of birth clearly displayed.

  1. It should suffice but as a backup you might consider carrying a photocopy of your passport.

    NB: There is no age restriction to buy tobacco. The age for buying beer and wine is 16 and the age for distilled alcoholic beverages is 18. Even these restrictions are very laxly enforced so you'd not only have to be small in stature but look VERY young to run into any trouble in the first place.


  2. Since the UK is not a member of the Schengen agreement, you will need a valid passport to enter the Schengen area. National ID cards are only valid for travel within the Schengen area proper.
