Question:

Would a bad MAF sensor cause a code to read anything else?

My 1996 blazer is idling rough and the check engine light is on. It says there is no signal from one of the oxygen sensors. The guy at the auto parts store told me it may be my MAF sensor or EGR valve. I cleaned the EGR valve with Carb cleaner and it ran better for 1 day. Would I be wasting my time trying to clean the MAF, or does the guy at the auto parts store sound like he knows what he is doing?

  1. It gave a code, right?  So what was the code??????????

    We need the code man!

  2.   Buy mass airflow sensor cleaner. Carb cleaner is more caustic and can damage the mass airflow sensor. What was the exact code? That can be helpfull. A pre cat sensor affects the running of the vehical, a post cat sensor only monitors and gives data on emmisions.

  3. He sounds like he's on the right track....you can clean it if you want to save some money or just buy a new one and not worry about it..good luck!
