  1. No, it will be fine.

I kept one in a 50 gallon tank, she had a hide box and a branch, you can get at the pet store. She did great, and was always wedging herself in the crevices of that branch.

  2. While a 20 gallon long is usually sufficient for the life of most adult ball pythons, there is no problem with a larger enclosure. The idea is to provide your animal with enough room to stretch out, and for a temperature range within its environment. As long as you provide hides and cover it should be fine.

  3. "Inexperienced yahoo posters..."  Right.

No, a 20long is big enough for a full grown BP - nothing more than 40 gallons should be used.  You can take him/her out of the tank if you feel that she isn't getting enough exercise - but they like small spaces.  And yes, for babies a very large tank will get them stressed out.  How big a tank are we talking here, though?  I'm not sure what you consider "big".

Check out the info on ball-pythons.net and you will see advice from people that OWN snakes instead of those that guess what they might like.  Good luck!

  4. no, in fact, he/she will LOVE it! it will be great for her. give her many hiding spots and lots of bedding so she has spots to be secluded. :) enjoy your new snake, they are wonderful pets

  5. i put my royal python in a big tank from when it was really small and it never had any problems. alot of people say not to but i dont agree. maybe theyve just had bad experiences. just make sure there is plenty of places for your royal to hide away and keep them small as they like to be in a 'cramped' hide. hope this helps

  6. Sometimes inexperienced yahoo posters claim that a large tank will make a ball python feel insecure; that is incorrect.

However, ball pythons should have a small, tight hidebox. In the wild, they wedge themselves into tight rock crevices.

  7. She will LOVE it. And also since its so big she might even grow faster and bigger because shes not confined to a small space. she will be super healthy and big :] hope this helps

  8. nope, the bigger the better!!! bigger tanks better simulate they way it is in the wild, where there are no glass walls! a bigger tank allows your snake to explore and stretch out and i have found from personal exp that bigger tanks also lowers the chance of your snake WANTING to escape!!! Believe me, if the tank is too small or your snake feels that it doesn't have enough room, it WILL escape! And no amount of duct tape or heavy objects will stop it!!!
