Southwest says I can carry a laptop with case included. Would a bookbag work or would I have to get a case for laptops only?

  1. A bookbag would probably be ok but if it doesn't have padding your laptop could be damaged.

  2. no b/c it could get damaged when you put it down and laptop cases hold it tighter and can strap aroun the laptop, with about 2 inches of padding(a good one anyway)

  3. You can certainly use a bookbag as a laptop case if you wanted to. It would be considered your personal item in addition to a carryon bag. The reason it says (case included) is that you can carry on your laptop plus the case separately, as long as both are properly stowed once onboard.
