Would a boxing tournament help revive the sport?

a big problem people have with boxing most dont believe that the champions are really the best. its not that people thinks its fixed its that people think the champ coughmayweathercough ducks all the best up and comers and only fights once every years or two. this way the champ can keep his belt for 10 years. I propose a boxing tournament. that way we can all see who the best really is. one night open tournament MMA does it all the time and amature boxers do it as well. obviously this would be a huge event but would it save boxing as a sport? or is MMA really going to kill boxing?

  1. I don't like boxing no matter what.

  2. Boxing could be revived if the following things happened:

Sanctioning bodies forced to follow uniform rules governing all bouts, strict enforcement of mandatory title defenses, regularly scheduled title fights, power taken away from promoters, a boxers union, and so on.  There has to be an international governing body and something has to be done with the number of belts and so on....

  3. MMA will never overshadow Boxing.

    yea i said it

  4. A boxing tournament will not happen my friend, nor will it revive the sport if such an event took place. Boxing was built by great fights such as Ali and Frazier, Hearns and Leonard, Ward and Gatti, and the thing that all these guys had in common was that they were the greatest of their time. Be patient my friend. I too am looking for that great one that will save our sport.
