  1. Sammer,

The answer is very obvious and strong -- YES!

A candidate with regular degree is always preferred and not a one with corresspondence or distance learning degree.

In fact for many IT jobs these candidates (corres / part time / distance learning) are not eligible to apply.

So, if you are thinking about a good career in management better go for Full time.

  2. Correspondence MBA is useful when supplemented with work-experience

  4. Personally, its not really the regular or distance MBA that matters. What matters is how much you have learnt and how much you can contribute to the company. The reason why most recruiters prefer to recruit from well known B-schools is because of the fact these premier B-schools offer quality management education and they can be sure that almost all the students will be cut above the rest because of the stringent admission criteria. But that doesn't mean an IGNOU MBA grad is worthless. He could have studied his MBA through correspondence, but if he kept in touch with his chosen area of specialisation by keeping himself updated with the latest industry trends, he could actually have an advantage over those who went to a B-school full-time. But generally, those who enroll for a correspondence MBA are those who couldn't get admitted to a good B-school. But there are a few, like working executives, who enroll for distance MBA programmes. Can't say a regular MBA would be preferred against a distance MBA in their case. And there are also exceptionally good freshers who enroll for distance MBAs. To answer your question, yes, regular MBAs are preferred over distance MBAs generally in the case of industry freshers, but not always and never 100%. If that were the case, distance MBA programmes would be worthless and have no takers. But you can see that nowadays even the IIMs have introduced distance education management programmes for working executives who can't afford to quit their job. Do you really think IIM-B didn't do a pre-analysis(whether it would be well-received, whether it would impact IIM-B's reputation, etc.) before launching these distance education courses(through DirecWay)?
