  1. Not if it was installed correctly.  BUT   If you leave the fan on all the time in a room that is closed up, the friction of the blades to the air will actually make the room temperature warmer.

  2. no it wont catch fire i have had mine on for ten years and never had a problem ever

  3. NO we always leave our ceiling fans on 24/7 and it's not on fire...not that i kno of at least...LOL tell ur dad he's just paranoid!!!

  4. I leave my ceiling fans on all day when I am home and I have not had any to catch fire.  Doing so does however shorten the lifespan on the fan and can cause the motor to burn out (Not fire burn).  I know this because I have replaced my ceiling fans at least once a year.

  5. We have ceiling fans in almost every room and leave them on all summer long.  They don't even use much power.

  6. Actually constant operation of a ceiling fan is probably the best thing you can do for it.

All my ceiling fans are induction motors and I'd bet money yours are also.  That means no brushes so no wear in that area.  Bearing lubricants tend to dry out but only when they are not being moved around.  I have one in the master bedroom that has been in constant operation (except for 5 or 6 power outages) since we bought the house in September of 1989.  One of the first things I did was to install that fan.  I change it's direction of rotation for summer and winter but it is only off for a few seconds.  I don't even turn it off when we leave for a period of time like a week or two for a vacation.

If your fan would catch fire, it would be for some other reason than simply running.  Even heavy accumulations of dirt won't cause it.  I know, mine has been allowed to get very dirty on a couple of occasions.  h**l, after 20 years of constant operation it isn't even hot.

  7. BEEN WORKING WITH THIS KIND OF STUFF FOR 25YRS. HADN'T SEEN IT ...YET...NO IT WONT CATCH FIRE,BOUT THE WORSE THAT WILL HAPPEN IS THE MOTOR MIGHT BURN UP IN A COUPLE OF YRS.

  8. No but you will shorten the life span of the ceiling fan motor.

  9. It would not catch fire, however the moter is not going to last as long and at the same time will get warm but not catch fire

  10. We leave ours on 24/7

I cannot see it catching on fire unless there is a problem with the wiring.

Actually tell you dad it helps with the a/c unit and circulates the air for better distribution.
