Would a change from a 8.6 Base Curve 14.2 Diameter to a 8.7 Base Curve and 14.4 Diameter matter much in lenses

Im trying to buy contacts online and im looking at a good cheap monthly brand. My old contacts have a BC of 8.6 and a Diameter of 14.2, the ones im looking at now only offers a 14.4 Diameter and either a 8.4 or 8.7 BC. I figured 8.7 would be a closer match, and was wondering would slight changes really make a difference. Thanks

  1. Changing brands can make a big difference in the fit because of the different material they are made of , even if the base curve  and diameter is the same.

But the thing is...I guess you don't realize that to order online, you have to have an actual prescription for that brand that you order. People can't just order what they want.

You will have to give the Dr's name and phone number, and the site will call to verify that the prescription is valid before sending them out.

So , if you have never been fitted with that brand, it will be denied.

It's complicated...but is in the interest of public safety....contacts can do a lot of harm when not fit right.

  2. Yes, any change can make a difference, that lens has to fit a specific way on the cornea, and if you change the base curve and the diameter you change all of that. Please don't buy ones that are not right for your eyes.
