Would a class a misdameanor stop me from becoming a police officer?

  1. It depends on when it was and which specific crime it was.

    It may not be an automatic disqualifier, but remember that Law Enforcement positions are competitive.  It isn't enough to meet the minimum requirements, you have to be the best applicant for the position.

    Time will be your friend.  i would say that five years or so between you and the offense will show that you have matured.


  2. Just and arrest or with a conviction? Just an arrest no problem. Conviction, most places OK depending on the specific crime , how long ago it was and the rest of your background.

    Most larger departments no longer have and automatic out for lots of things. They have found that it is the whole person that counts more.

  3. what kind of midameanor is it? dont say class a because there are thousonds of class a misdameanors. in the state of nevada if you get two domestic misdameaners you will be limited to departments
