Would a college admit me if I did poorly in the past, but have a 4.0 GPA at my new college?

Ok I went to this cc when I was 18 and stuff, did badly, then later on when I was ready I went back to a new cc, doing better there. At the new college I got a 3.5 GPA my first semester.

I was able to transfer in some grades from my old cc to the new one this week. They took the good grades from the old cc and computed in to my gpa and now my gpa is 4.0.

Do you guys think I have a shot at a college now? I also wrote an essay on why I had a poor college performance and why things are different for me now.

Well, it all depends upon where you go but obviously this will look good on you. But I wouldn't include that essay unless you can fit it into one of the writing prompts for the application.
