  1. It depends on what you want in a pet.

If you want a "pasture pal" that you go visit, sure.  They need other cows to be happy, and will bond closer to the other cows, but they are curious and get tame.  They have surprising personalities too.

I just don't see what you'd get out of it.  You can't ride them, they "do their own thing" more than they want to please you, they aren't super cuddly, other than an occasional pat.

If you want, go for it.

It just seems like a horse would be more fun for the time, space, energy and money you'd spend.  A couple of goats would be hilarious.  Sheep maybe.

  2. Sure, cattle a great animals. If you don't want beef you can get a jersey and use her for milk(if you drink milk) and they are really cute. We have 2 jersey cows and hey are great pets, we do use them for milk but they are like big puppy dogs. If you don't have a lot of room you can look into a mini Zebu, they look like a Brahman bull but they are much much smaller and easier to take care of. Luck

  3. We have a dairy farm and I have plenty of cows that I have befriended.  If you get it as a calf then they attach really quickly to you.  You just have to be sure not to let them get to pushy because sometimes that happens then they can hurt you.  But mine love bread, donuts, bagel and different types of cakes.  They see me coming and will come up to the gate to get some food.  They also love to just be scratched on the head.

There are some people who train their cows to ride.  I have never done that but I am sure that would be fun.  I take mine for a walk to graze on grass because they live in a barn most of the time.

    Have fun

  4. Well the answer would really depend on if you are setup to have a cow.  Do you have enough acreage to have a cow?  I have a pet cow.  We raise beef cattle.  I got a baby heifer that needed to be bottle raised.  When we discovered her blood line we kept her for a herd cow.  She is really sweet and gentle.  She is great for then the relativess come to visit the ranch.  They can pet her and feed her without have to worry about her hurting someone.  The only problem with having a pet cow is their sizes.  We had a bull calf we hand raised.  When he was full grown, he didn't know his own size.  He would be just looking for attention and hurt you because he was just so big.  So I would really take it into consideration before buying one.

  5. My friend has a dwarf cow. And he loves her!!! He is always talking about how much fun she is. She is big enough for him to ride that's why but he can't ride her right now bcuz she has a calf but I've always wanted a pet cow so I think a dwarf cow would make an ok pet.

  6. Well, it might make a good pet if you have the space for the cow to run about, have time to play for it.
