Question:

Would a crown XLS-802d be powerful enough to power two JBL JRX118s subwoofers?

Here is the link to the amp website (crown XLS-802d)

http://crownaudio.com/amp_htm/xls.htm

And to the JBL JRX118s website

http://www.jblpro.com/JRX/JRX118S.htm

I know that if you just look at the specs, this amp will meet the requirements. However, I am looking to have a lot of headroom for the cleanest sound and least strain on my equipment. Anyone know any better amps for the price or performance?

Thanks!

  1. The XLS should suit you just fine.  In terms of power, it's right at where you would want it to be.  Run the amps full open, and both the amp and the subs should be happy, so long as you're not sending too much signal down the line and clipping at some point.  If any piece of gear along the line starts clipping, you'll notice it in the sound, and you run the risk of damaging your equipment.

  2. not to be rude i would not touch either ...
