  1. I think a discovery, because it would be discovered through research. It would have not been invented, if that makes sense.

  2. The black and white answer would be that a biological solution occurring in nature would be a discovery and a chemical solution engineered by man would be an invention.

I think my smart money would be on it being discovered instead of invented since certain humans and almost all crocodiles are immune to HIV.

  3. Its would be a discovery, because the cure is already out there, pretty much someone would take the idea manipulate it a bit, and make a medical breaktrhough, even though the information is already out there. It kinda doesnt make any sense, but you have to understand the the government knows there are cures out there, but they are waiting for the rght time to take this idea and release it, they maximize profits this way by keeping people on medication. There is little money in cures, as compared to life long treatments, and yes they are that cruel and heartless that they let millions of people die from it, its politics and economics.

  4. technically it would depend on what the cure is. if they discovered some plant or mixture of organic substances that cured it, it would be a discovery. but if it was a specific invention of a machine or something of that nature, it would be considered an invention. so most likely a discovery.

  5. discovery unless they use and invention to cure it

  6. Good question, for there is serious research approaching ending this deadly disease both ways:

Currently, it seems the leading approaches involve discovery---which hopes exist unlocking the "shutoff (genetic) code" may be found by 2014.

The other radical approach involves expermentation with molecular sized nanotech "robots" that seek, attack and destroy the AIDS virus itself.....and this IS being researched seriously.  However, this approach may take 20 or more years before it's perfected.

  7. it will be discovery because you aren't making any thing you are just finding a way to to cure this desease

  8. It depends.  If it were a drug, then it could go either way.  Most drugs are things that already exist and are found to cure diseases by trial and error or just plain luck.  If the cure for AIDS were found that way it would be a discovery, the researcher would have discovered the this molecule blocks AIDS from replicating itself or whatever.  But now we're on the verge of having 'designer drugs' where, instead of just stumbling upon a cure, researchers actually study what kind of theoretical molecule would cure the disease, then intentionally build such a molecule (as opposed to finding one that already exists.)  If the cure were found that way, it would be an invention as the researcher actually built the cure.
