The one I am looking at is called a Midwest Gold Zinc Exercise Pen, here is what it looks like:

Would something like this work if I wanted to go in it and play with my chinchilla? I am using my bathroom right now, but my dad wants me to find somewhere else. I thought of a dog pen...

  1. It should work just fine as long as you find something to cover the top, because your friend will try to jump or climb out. I'd suggest using a blanket, since they're heavy and easy to get a hold of. Just make sure your chinchilla isn't chewing it. I'm sure you already know, but do remember that you shouldn't take your chinchilla outside, even in a playpen. Too many problems can arise from it.

  2. I have this pen, and I must tell you it is a great pen. The only down fall is that they are a bit wobbly if pushed on. If you have it on carpet, it should be fine, tile or wood flooring you may have problems. If you are outside i believe it comes with stakes to hold it down. Also the larger you go the bigger the slots are on the sides, so check that before you get it.

  3. I have a playpen for my chinchilla, and my bit of advice is that you might want to get a lid for it. My chinchilla always jumps up and tries to climb out of her pen (sucessfully sometime) and rearranges it by dragging it around. It should be fine, considering your chinchilla isn't as active as mine.
