  1. Faster web browsing is related to your ISP contract if you have a 256kbps download speed and 56 kbps upload this is 5 times faster than 56kb modem

To have really fast connection you need

a 1500kbps Up and 512 down contact your ISP provider for info on what you have and upgrade to  their fastest

Routers and computer speed do not have anything to do with Net speed

  2. If it is a wireless router, then upgrading could provide you with faster transfer speed (upgrading from 802.11b to 80211g, or 802.11n)

If you are hard-wired, your best bet is to upgrade your internet connection by contacting your provider or switching to a comparatively priced other ISP.

  3. a faster internet would help more but to get the internet to whatever else the router is connected to u would need a better router.

  4. The two possibilities for your speed limit are the speed you're buying from your provider (if it's slower than about 1mbps) or the internet itself (you'll seldom get sustained thruput over 1mbps at this time.  Your router, your modem and your computer are very seldom the bottleneck.
