Would a heat gun work for bonding ?

I don't want to pay $700 for tarp to cover my house I'm building instead I was wondering if anyone has taken construction plastic film and bonded it together with heat gun to make a seam would it work

  1. I really dont think a heat gun and plastic is going to work for you, the plastic will pickle up and distort and probably won't bond with any consistancy. Look into a big roll of rip-stop plastic I think it's available in 20' wide rolls.


  2. buy the tarps, I think I've seen 40'x40', a few of those should do you for less than $700. Your time is worth money isn't it? Plus what you make would not be as strong. Sell them after const. is complete or cut into smaller pieces and use for other things

  3. Spend the money on the tarps, the plastic will not hold up in any serious storm.
