  1. In the winter, the south pole is always is sunlight.  The shadow of the earth would not be visible to cross  the moon. So, No.

  2. In a lunar eclipse, the earth's shadow falls on the moon. This means that the earth has to be between the moon and the sun. Since January at the south pole means you can always see the sun, during a lunar eclipse, you wouldn't be able to see the moon.

For the same reason, the eclipse would be observable from the night side of the equator, but not the day side.
