Would a man ever fight a woman?  Would a woman even fight off a man?

Yes, female lions do fight with male lions but usually in self-defense or to defend her cubs.  Although female lions normally stay only with their cubs and other female lions (while male lions like to lay back and l**k themselves you-know-where), many times a male lion will approach a female lion for s*x.  She will fight him off if she is not in estrus.

Also, male lions will sometimes attack cubs to curtail future competition and the female will fight off the male lion to protect her own children.

When a younger male lion fight the older one to replace he in the group as a new pack leader, the new leader will try to kill the former's pride. Sometimes a female would try to fight to protect her puppies but the males are stronger than the females..

No! The female lion knows that the male lion is the pack leader. She does all the hunting with the other female lions bring it back for the prideto feast on before he arrives. The male lion is the protector of the pride. Once he arrives to eat the catch they all back off until he is done eating. He is the king of the pride. I hope this answered your question.
