Would a marriage license be enough to file with the I-130?

since the wedding certificate will be sent about 3 months after the wedding takes place will the marriage license be enough to attach to a I-130 Alien Petiotion? it will be a HI marriage license!

  1. You'll have to wait on the marriage certificate. The marriage license is just permission to marry, not proof that you have married. 3 months sounds like an awfully long time to wait on a marriage certificate.

    It looks like you can walk in and apply for an additional marriage certificate and get it mailed in ten days according to the Hawaii online records site..

    You do have to pay $10, but, getting it several months earlier would definitely be worth it. I would give them a call and see how soon after the wedding you can walk in and order an additional certificate. That seems to be the only method that gets it to you any faster. Ordering online or over the phone seems to only get it to you in 6-8 weeks..


  2. If USCIS requests you to include Marriage Certificate, then you must include Marriage Certificate. Unless you want to waste your time and filing fee to delay your process by sending Marriage License.
